Perry Dray is Dray, Thomson & Dyekman, P.C.’s founding partner.  He started the firm in 1975 after leaving Hirst, Applegate & Dray, and has seen what started as a sole practice endure and grow over 30 years into one of Cheyenne’s oldest continuous law practices with 5 partners and eight lawyers.    Perry is a native Wyomite.  He was born in Cheyenne, and except for attending college and law school at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, and obtaining his LL.M in Taxation at George Washington University and serving as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Air Force, both in Washington, D.C., Perry has lived in Cheyenne his entire life.

Perry’s legal career has always centered on corporate law, estate planning, health care and hospital law, and real estate.  Perry has always had both an active transactional practice and litigation practice, having been lead counsel on multi-million dollar deals as well as appearing before virtually all levels of state and federal courts and admininstrative agencies.  He has represented a wide variety of business and individuals over the years, ranging from one of the largest retail companies in the world, Wal-Mart, in its recent expansions in Wyoming, and both the State of Wyoming and the City of Cheyenne, to multiple generations of family owned businesses.  Perry has represented United Medical Center for 25 years, overseeing its rise from a small community hospital, through its merger with Cheyenne’s DePaul Hospital, to become a sophisticated regional health care center.  Perry was lead counsel for Express Pipeline during its construction of a multi-million dollar natural gas pipeline from Canada across Wyoming.  Perry may also be one of a handful of lawyers in Wyoming to have negotiated and litigated with foreign governments on behalf of clients in business deals.  Perry brings a wealth of experience to his practice of law which has been praised by his peers in Chambers USA as “exceptional”.

Despite these professional accomplishments, Perry is most proud of his family and community activities.  Perry has been married for over 40 years, has 3 children and 7 grandchildren.  In addition to his military career, he has served on the Board of Trustees of both Memorial Hospital of Laramie County and the University of Utah Medical School in Salt Lake City, Utah.  From 1987 to 1995, he also served as a Trustee of the Univeristy of Wyoming.  Perry has also served in leadership positions for the Cheyenne YMCA, Cheyenne’s chapter of the Kiwanis Club, and the Cheyenne American Red Cross chapter, to name but a few.
