Brian Hanify was born in Worland, Wyoming, on January 19, 1973, and was also raised in Worland. Like his father and three brothers, he attended the University of Wyoming, and Brian obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology, with a concentration in Environment and Natural Resources. He also received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming. While attending law school, he concentrated on classes involving oil and gas and environmental law. He was also active in moot court competitions taking first place in two competitions, and advanced to the semi-finals in the national Pace Environmental Moot Court competition.
His first position as an attorney was with the Cheyenne law firm of Sundahl, Powers, Kapp & Martin. He began working at Dray, Thomson & Dyekman, in 2003.
Brian is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Wyoming. Brian’s legal focus with Dray, Thomson & Dyekman is civil litigation and administrative law. He has appeared before numerous Wyoming District Courts, Circuit Courts, the United States Federal Court for the District of Wyoming, and the Wyoming Supreme Court. Brian has worked on a variety of administrative matters, and has appeared before or worked on matters involving numerous Wyoming administrative agencies and boards, including: Public Service Commission, Board of Equalization, Environmental Quality Council, Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Revenue, Workers’ Safety and Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, Labor Standards, Department of Transportation, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Brian has also participated in alternative dispute resolutions, such as mediation.
Brian’s practice areas include a broad range of civil litigation, and among other matters, he has experience in insurance defense, medical malpractice, construction liens and litigation, railroad issues, commercial litigation, employment disputes, copyright law, and contract actions. With respect to administrative proceedings, he has worked on matters involving mineral taxation, regulated utilities, employment law, and environmental matters.
